What is the scheme and who is it for?

Billingshurst Community Transport provides a service to elderly, frail and infirm residents who are unable to use public transport. Volunteer drivers will use either their own cars, or drive a fully wheelchair accessible vehicle provided by the scheme. Where appropriate a companion may accompany a passenger at no additional charge.The car or accessible vehicle will pick up passengers from their home, or any other location within the area served.

Rear access to wheelchair vehicle is via a ramp and hoist. Full restraining straps are fitted.

Frequently asked questions

This service enables registered passengers to undertake trips to medical appointments, day centres, shops, leisure and other non-urgent appointments. Medical journeys will always be given priority but other journey requests will be considered.
There is an annual subscription fee of £5.00 per person. Fixed fares will be charged for each journey based on mileage; the amount will be advised at the time of booking or on request. By prior arrangement, and where appropriate, the driver will wait for up to four hours to take you home. If longer, an additional amount may be charged.

To book your journey call 01403 787696 between the hours of 09:30 and 11:00am, Mon-Fri. An answerphone will be in operation outside of these times. Please leave your name and number and we will call you back. To help us ensure we can meet your needs, we prefer 48 hours notice, however you may book well in advance. We will always endeaver to accommodate emergencies.

Please note. The first time you book we will take your details, including: name,address,telephone number and any other relevant data.These will help us with booking future journeys for you and will be held securely. We will always do our best to supply you with a driver, and we will call you a few days prior to your journey with the name of your driver and your collection time.
